Mission & Vision

As the institutional memory of Arizona Opera, our mission is:

• To offer entertaining, live music performed at the highest artistic level
• To promote and support our musician colleagues – their activities and livelihoods
• To raise awareness and reach out to the community in support of the Arizona Opera and its programs

We are proud members of the American Federation of Musicians (a branch of the AFL-CIO) and have earned bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees from some of the world’s finest conservatories and universities.

A unique feature of the Arizona Opera Orchestra is that the musicians represent the company’s history. The AZOOMA musicians are stakeholders in Arizona Opera.

While not in the staged spotlight, AZOOMA has a strong and vested interest in the company and its future. Singers and conductors, managers, board members and directors come and go, while some members of the orchestra have been around since the inception of the company in the early ’70′s.

We are the institutional memory and tradition of Arizona Opera.
